An event photo gallery is the online collection delivered after a wedding, race, conference or other event. Its link opens a destination; its search and download features depend on the platform and organizer's settings. Knowing the terms helps you ask for the right file or choose the right delivery tool.
Gallery link and QR code
A gallery link is the web address guests open to see or search an event's photos. A QR code stores a destination a phone can open. It does not, by itself, upload photos, grant downloads or search for faces.
Label a collection link “Upload your photos” and a delivery link “Find your photos” when both exist. Guests should know which task the destination supports.
Preview, web file and full resolution
A preview is a display version used to choose an image. A web file is a smaller delivery version suitable for some screen uses. Full resolution describes the pixel dimensions of the delivered high-resolution image; it is separate from permission to download it.
An original in a delivery gallery may be the photographer's finished JPEG. It does not necessarily mean a RAW camera file or an unedited image. Ask what the photographer actually includes. The download guide explains how to check the file you receive.
Face detection and selfie search
Face detection finds face regions in photographs. Face matching compares a supplied face with those in the relevant collection. Selfie search is the guest action: you provide a clear picture of yourself and review possible photos in the event gallery.
In Event Face Finder, the comparison is limited to the event you open. It does not identify strangers across the web or retrieve photos that have not been added to the event. Matches can be missed or incorrect, so review the suggested images. See the selfie search guide.
Bib search and time filters
Bib search uses a runner's visible or tagged race number. It depends on the gallery offering that feature and the number being readable or correctly tagged. It is different from searching with a selfie.
A time filter narrows photos to a capture period. A location folder groups images from one course point or room. These are gallery capabilities to check; they are not automatically included in every photo service.
Importing and preparing photos
Upload means adding files from a device. Import means bringing supported files from another source into the platform. Processing or indexing prepares those files for display or search. Here, “indexing photos” is different from a search engine indexing a public webpage.
An imported collection is not always immediately ready. For Event Face Finder, check the organizer's event state before sharing the guest search link.
Access and download policy
An access code is an instruction guests may need before using a gallery. A download policy decides whether they receive previews, smaller files, originals or a paid download option. Gallery availability is how long the destination remains usable; it is not the same as permanent storage of your master archive.
When choosing a platform, test these terms as actual actions on a phone. The platform selection guide gives you a practical comparison process.
